Whatever the time of year, you can’t beat a nice walk in the Pembrokeshire countryside, not forgetting a stop off in the local pub for a refreshing pint, a glass of wine and a bag of salty peanuts! Although all of our parks are situated in peaceful locations, surrounded by Welsh countryside, rest assured you’ll never be more than 5 miles from a cosy Pembrokeshire pub.
Here is a list of five of the pubs you might like to visit within walking distance of our parks.
1. The Druidstone Hotel

The first Pembrokeshire pub on the list is within walking distance of our Newgale Coast Holiday Park. The Druidstone Hotel is located on the stunning cliffs above the beach of Druidstone Haven, this dog-friendly pub is great for its amazing sunset views across St. Brides Bay, whilst enjoying a tipple of your choice. This highly-rated business is around three miles away from our Newgale caravan park. This hotel features a restaurant so you can also get a bite to eat on the way back from your walk too! They host music events and feasts regularly so you might even be lucky enough to sample a local band whilst visiting. We would strongly advise that you do not undertake this walk at night, but rather use a taxi after dark which can be easily arranged from the pub.
2. The Victoria Inn

Another pub you may like to visit whilst staying at our Newgale caravan park is The Victoria Inn Brewhouse, in Roch. This brewery is closer than our last pick at only 1.8 miles away. Please take care when walking this route as a portion of the journey follows the main road. Similarly to The Druidstone Hotel walking route, we would strongly advise that you do not undertake this walk at night, rather use a taxi which can be easily arranged from the pub.
The Victoria Inn boasts its own range of craft beer, making this location perfect to sample a unique variety of craft beer that you won’t find anywhere else. They even serve an Ale called NewgAle! If craft beer is not your thing, fear not, as this is also a traditional pub that serves a range of cider and lager on tap. Like the last location, The Victoria Inn is another brilliant dog-friendly spot and serves classic, hearty pub grub, making it perfect for a drink and a meal. They also offer takeaway options on their menu so you can pick up a meal from this local business and eat it from the comfort of your Matthew Baker caravan in Newgale!

Moving away from our Newgale park and heading further into North Pembrokeshire, we come to our caravan park in Dinas. Castle Farm Holiday Park is located in a gorgeous spot between the serene Preseli hills and the rugged Pembrokeshire coast.
One of the closest pub to our Dinas caravan park is The Ship Aground. At only 0.7 miles away, it’s an easy 10-15 minute flat walk up the road, along the pavement. This is a traditional small pub, popular with locals, which serves your favourite tipples, as well as classic pub food. This venue also plays host to bands and musicians, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy an evening of entertainment in The Ship Aground.

From our caravan park in Newport, Pembrokeshire there’s a variety of local pubs to visit, along with plenty of shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend taking the time to get to know the little town of Newport, although it is small it boasts a butchers, fishmongers, a Spar, an antique shop, an ice cream parlour, a range of cafes & restaurants, and much more!
The nearest pub to the park is The Castle Inn, which is located just off the centre of Newport town. The beautiful Welsh stone brings great character to the building, not to mention the cosy interior, all making this a great place to stop for a drink.
The Castle Inn features a lovely traditional bar, restaurant, lounge area and a beer garden. As well as their main menu, they also serve a Sunday lunch. Like many of the locations on the list, this charming rustic pub is also home to the occasional live music event, which always summons a nice crowd creating a great atmosphere. To top it off, The Castle Inn has a wonderful fireplace, if you’re lucky you can take a seat next to the roaring fire whilst enjoying some pub snacks on a brisk winter evening. What could be better than that?
5. The Golden Lion

The final pub on our list today is The Golden Lion, which is another rustic pub in Newport, Pembrokeshire, with an upmarket twist. The Golden Lion has been welcoming travellers through its doors since it opened as a coach house in the 1600s. Set within a traditional stone building it features beamed ceilings and a large fireplace, with a really cosy range of seating within, as well as a restaurant area. Sample their well-reviewed menu and make sure to wash your meal down with something from their great range of local and national beers, as well as a large selection of wines, gins and other spirits. We mustn’t forget, The Golden Lion is dog-friendly too, so you can bring your walking companion with you! What’s more, this pub is only a 0.4-mile walk from our Newport Caravan Park.
Our caravan parks are all set within peaceful locations where you can be one with the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside, but you are never too far away from local amenities and a good pub!
