Winter work at Newport by Ian Merrick

We have been busy over the last few weeks including removing a dying conifer hedge with a new fence, and ordering shrubs to plant along it. The roots from the old trees were huge and were removed by a combination of Land Rover mounted winch and excavator!

The storms have not done any damage to the park so far, even though there were some extraordinary scenes around the Parrog. At the highest tides the estuary crept into the lower fields but that much has happened before. Of course, the grounds are very wet and soft but that will rectify itself if we get a week or two without rain. Best not to drive off the roads when you arrive.
